GRAMMAR : SYNTAX

[re]visions
A revised or new version(dictionary.com)

If there is one important thing I have learned thus far in studio is that LOTS of models and changes are good for your design. You may be changing something you think is important to the piece but if you take it and change it you might like the new version better. Doing multiple test models can help you learn from your mistakes. Like above in my wall project. After review I learned that I should have better included my artifact. Thusly, the revised version is better.

Audience
the persons reached by a book, radio or television broadcast, etc.; public(dictionary.com)

When creating one must take into account the audience of the piece. Who is going to be using or viewing this? What would they like to see? Will this look good? Will this make sense? You go through multiple revisions to your model and come out with something that exactly what it should be.

character
the aggregate of features and traits that form the individual nature of some person or thing. (dictionary.com)

A piece or space has character when it creates a dialogue with itself and the user. A piece with character shows the artists hard efforts. The character from my desk as a space conveys a message about myself. A works character will do the same.

transition
movement, passage, or change from one position, state, stage, subject, concept, etc., to another; change (dictionary.com)

Transitions is when you are drawing attention along a path. Transitions are used in almost everything from music to design. When designing for a transition you want to have something that attracts the eyes and moves them from point A to point B. You do not however want to have your transition be more distracting that the general whole.

datum
a single piece of information, as a fact, statistic, or code; an item of data. (dictionary.com)

A datum line could assist in creating space and transition within it. A datum line is a central line of a possible grid in an area. For instance in the above picture a datum line is created by the large black stripe down the center. That line helps create many design elements such as balance, order, and transition
