Create:Design::Tell:Story

Stories
fairy tales, design, development
In the studio class we were each assigned a fairy tale as the base for our first project. Fairy tales are stories that were made up to explain or to entertain. Stories show development in that they progress as they go on. They have a beginning middle and end. Just as Interior Architecture does.

Artifacts
Illuminated Manuscript, Inspiration
For the drawing class in Suzanne our first assignment was to create an Illuminated Manuscript. We were to choose five things that meant something to us and draw them. I found this work to be my favorite assignment we have been given so far this year. It inspired me to really focus on my drawing technique to coney my point.

Multi-view
A Midsummer Night's Dream, Dramatic Irony
As a supplement to our fairy tales in studio we watched a movie based on Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream. This story shows lots of dramatic irony which is like a multi-view of a story. Dramatic Irony is when the reader knows something that the characters in the story do not. Another "Multi-view" i saw in the past week was the multi-view drawing. By drawing something from more than  one point of view it is easier to get your point across.

Cycle
Design Cycle
In Patrick's Class he spoke about the design cycle. The design cycle basically explains the series of fads that happen in society. Some start and fade quickly, others start slowly and last long periods of time. There are many combinations of ways the design cycle works. I find that you can relate the design cycle to things outside of design in the aspect that in life and all aspects of society things continue in the same fashion as in the design cycle.

Translation
This word actually stumped me at first. I had no idea what translation had to do with anything in any of my classes. But i figured it out... Translation is how you interpret the world for yourself. The assignments we receive, the feedback we get, the things we hear, the  things we see, translation is the way we take it to ourselves and use it.

((I have been bed riden since monday night and could not get to a scanner in time to post pictures but i will have them up by the end of tomorrow))
